Jacob Semiatin (1915–2003) expressionist painting with abstract figures and in rust, orange and taupe tones. Recently framed in a floating frame in deep brown color with copper undertones.
Semiatin was a noted American abstract expressionist whose early watercolors of rural and industrial landscapes earned him group exhibitions with the Brooklyn Society of Artists and solo shows at New York’s Contemporary Arts Gallery in 1957–58, before he fully embraced abstraction in the late 1950s with acclaimed solo exhibitions at Galerie Internationale in 1962 and 1964. His work is held in prominent collections such as the Brooklyn Museum, the Historic Arkansas Museum, the Houston Museum of Modern Art, and the Irish Jewish Museum in Dublin.
